Who is Flock?

Flock is a robust all-in-one HR, Benefits, and Compliance solution available to small to midsize businesses. Flock’s HRIS and Benefits Administration platform delivers enterprise level functionality, dependability and simplicity of use.

We believe in the power of trusted benefits advisors, and have built Flock from the ground up to be the premier broker-friendly BenAdmin platform. Designed with unparalleled analytical tools to complement a brokers’ deep domain and compliance expertise. Our HR features within Flock are available to employers at minimal to no cost for as long as they like with benefits management and compliance available as buy-up options, please ask your broker for more information.


Who is on the Flock team?

Flock is a customer-centric firm made up of people in the industry for people in the industry. Our focus is on adding features that benefit the end-user, save time, add convenience and engagement. Our core team consists of Flock, brokers, HR Ops/ employers, and carriers who have all lived the challenges that we’re solving.


Who does Flock compete with?

We compete with the ‘modern technology brokers’* you’ve either read or heard about who require you to give up your existing broker. We’re not a call center, but a real company with people ready to help you. Our goal is to level the online HRIS and employee benefits playing field with powerful technology, personalized customer service and the freedom to let you choose your broker. We’re not health insurance brokers. Instead, we’re technologists that combine our software expertise with a health insurance brokers deep domain experience.


When was Flock established?

Flock launched in 2015 and we have continued to grow with thousands of employees and employers on the platform. We are based San Francisco and Bangalore.


How can Flock help me as an HR manager or Health Insurance Broker?

If you’re an HR manager, Flock simplifies and automates the HR and Ben Admin tasks that take up so much of your time including employee onboarding (W4's, I9s, Documents, Offer Letters, etc.), time-off tracking, employee engagement, and employee offboarding. How many employees do I need to have in order to use Flock?

You can have as few as 5 and as many as 500 employees to use Flock. While we can accommodate companies with up to 10,000 employees, however our product is designed for companies with less than 500 employees.


How would you describe Flock from an HR perspective?

Flock is a robust employee engagement tool that you can use to broadcast messages, conduct polls, send out reminders and connect with your employees through a social network. Flock will save you money and time so you can get back to the more important aspects of managing people.


How do I become a preferred broker? Or get licensed to sell Flock?

Preferred brokers are selected by Flock based on a set of criteria. If you are interested in becoming a preferred broker or becoming a licensed broker, please contact us at sales@helloflock.com.


How much training is required to become a preferred broker or get licensed to sell Flock?

You can be trained in just a few hours through our Flock University webinars. Flock U provides you with ongoing series of training webinars so brokers can teach their clients how to quickly launch and implement Flock. Once certified, brokers have access to Flock’s 24/7 broker training portal for videos, what’s new, product updates, tips, tools, the blog, and everything else Flock provides to ensure brokers are up-to-date and informed about our product.


Do you work with a variety of carriers across the country?

Yes, we partner with the most prestigious insurance brokers and carriers in the country and are regularly adding new partnerships to our flock.


How do I get started?

There are some simple, manageable and easy-to-digest steps that will get clients started. Beginning on Day One, clients are assigned to a Customer Success Manager. Customer Success Managers are real people, not a call center, who are supplemented with a virtual system within our app. If a client needs help outside of regular Customer Success hours, a request can be sent through the virtual system. We’ll respond with an email and in-app response within minutes.


What kind of IT infrastructure is required to use Flock?

All you need is internet access and a computer. We are also mobile optimized and Flock is configured for any type of hardware. An app isn’t required so you can easily move from one piece of hardware to another.


What kind of IT support is required for Flock?

None, all of your IT needs are hosted, supported and maintained by Flock. No additional hardware or software is required.


How long does it take to get my organization up and running?

We’re not the typical software installation that requires many months to install, troubleshoot and launch. Because we’re pure Flock through and through, not a compilation of other products, we can get you up and running in just a few weeks. Flock’s platform is built for driving tasks and getting information out quickly.


How easy is it to launch Flock for employers?

We have the ability to quickly get your employees signed up and into the product without HR having to do any heavy lifting. Once you provide us with the data, we can do the testing and be ready to launch. There’s no need for you to hold special meetings, training sessions, or produce user guides. Flock sends a dynamic email to your employees that will take them on a tour of the system.


What format can I use to provide Flock with my employee data?

The best way would be a CSV upload. Flock has a validation checker built it which will tell you where your data is missing (if it is). If we are integrated with Payroll, we can pull directly from the payroll system.


Is the 'hire to retire' functionality paperless?

Yes, with Flock the ‘hire to retire’ functionality along with numerous other employee management processes are paperless.


How does my employee data get from our system into the carrier's system?

Flock works with your carrier to import your data into our system. We can accommodate forms-based enrollment, CSV, or EDI. Note: in some cases the Broker/Employer may be responsible for getting data into the Carrier system (example: a Carrier is not willing to accept an EDI feed, or if setting up an EDI feed is taking time, etc).


Does the system have employee and manager self-service options?

Yes, Flock has both employee and manager self-service modules for benefits enrollment, life changes, time-off tracking and more.


Does the system have the ability to create multiple time off policies?

Yes, our system lets you create multiple time-off policies for exempt and nonexempt employees.


Is the system rules-based when referring to Ben Admin?

Yes. We can build in rules so you only see the plans you use and as an enrollee you only see the plans you qualify for with the correct effective dates built on the back-end through the broker portal.


Do you offer ACA reporting and compliance filing and e-filing?

Yes, we do. If you have 250+ employees, you must file electronically. We can help do the reporting for fully insured or partially self-funded employers – something not everyone can do.


How does Flock integrate with my payroll provider?

Flock’s system is agnostic and we have a RESTful API. So as long as your payroll provider is willing to integrate, we can make it happen. Payroll admin can run reports on demand download and upload directly into the system so there is a single point of entry. Create CSV files that are specific to the payroll provider.


Does Flock have single sign-on?

Yes, we have the ability for users to login with their Google App credentials. We also have single sign-on via open ID connect.
